North Star Club Review

Written by Tom Pooley

Back in August 2017 I had the opportunity to escape to North Star Club woodland retreat for an incredible GLAMPING experience with my partner Laura.

You can find more information on this unique wooden cabin retreat at https://www.northstarclub.co.uk

We also made a short film from our stay which has been shared on their website ever since. Click below to watch!

We had the opportunity to collaborate with North Star Club, offering professional drone & camera services, as well as an honest review of a full glamping experience, in exchange for a 2 night stay + amenities (free of charge) in their luxurious White Rose woodland suite.

The North Star Club ‘glampsite’ is situated just outside York near a quiet little town called Sancton, a beautiful part of the East Riding of Yorkshire.

With whitewashed recycled timber cladding, silver birch detailing and natural accessories, the White Rose woodland suite had everything we needed including;

– Large covered veranda

– King sized bed with sitting room

– Cosy wood-burner

– Rustic shower-room

– Hairdryer

– Small fridge

– Kettle

– Running tap water with basin

– Gas fired BBQ

North Star Club provided us with a small supply of chopped wood ready along with a welcome gift basket full of goodies!

On arrival we dropped off our bags and went exploring the surrounding woodlands. Straight away we felt a sense of escapism, following the paths going off in different directions around the site.

By the evening, we chose to light our fire and sit out on the veranda listening to nature eating burgers off the grill.

Over the two nights we also had the chance to sit by the community fire pit and melt marshmallows from our welcome gift pack.

There is also a community room on site where groups can hang out, drink from a variety of healthy teas, play the guitar provided and leave their feedback in their stunning vintage North Star Club guestbook.

The North Star Club glamping site isn’t far from many tourist attractions. We visited places like Castle Howard and Flamborough Head during and after our stay.

Flamborough Head, Yorkshire

Carolyn (the owner/manager we dealth with) was extremely helpful in the build up to our visit, suggesting several ideas of things to do / see around the East riding of Yorkshire.

Sitting outside on the veranda each morning with a hot cup of tea, we truly felt at ease in our private woodland suite. Whilst other families were also staying on site, we could barely hear, nevermind see them.

You truly feel secluded at North Star Club, living in luxury among the trees with nothing but nature’s sound. Lighting the wood-burner through the night as we slept was a blessing as the cabin did get cold at night otherwise.

We came into this experience not knowing what it would be like staying in a cabin in the woods… but by the end, we simply didn’t want to leave!

If you are looking for an alternative to the standard camping experience, living in luxury whilst remaining in a countryside setting, this is the PERFECT place to stay.

Thank you for having us North Star Club!
